To take a gum off a child’s hair

Having trouble with gum on your child hair? Well, I have here some solutions you could try to get the gum off your child’s hair. These solutions are very easy and economical too as you can usually see these ingredients in your household.

By using a peanut butter, all you do is put peanut butter on the area around where the gums got stuck, and then rub it into your hair and around the gum, and then you will see the gum crumbles as you rub it. Use your finger to tug gently at it until it comes out, and lastly use a fine tooth comb to get the last bits off. Now if you do not like the smell of the peanut butter on your hair, you can also use coconut or almond oil, baby oil, or sun block. If you do not have this stuff, you can also use a Mayo or butter and use the same procedure. But if you are too lazy to do this procedure, you could always snip it out!

Fatty foods on kids

Parents should be aware that giving your children foods that are high in saturated fat can raise the level of cholesterol in the blood and overtime this increases the chance of developing heart disease. So it is best to be aware what kind of foods are high in saturated fats so you can avoid in giving these to your child or at least cut it down.

• Fatty cuts of meat and meat products such as sausages and pies
• Butter, ghee and lard
• Cream, soured cream and crème fraiche
• Full fat cheese
• Pastry
• Cakes and biscuits
• Some sweet and savoury snacks such as confectionery
• Coconut oil, coconut cream and palm oil

My dream home plan

Building a dream home is probably the biggest step a couple would face, that is why when my husband and I have decided to put our current house on the market, I also make a point to start gathering information’s on starting to build a dream home and luckily, I got a house plan online that fits the budget my husband and I intended for this dream home. I am actually very pleased with it, as it is exactly what I would like it to be, like having a small entrance hall, a downstairs cloakroom, large lounge and a dining kitchen with French door that opens out onto a patio area. I think I did a good job in choosing a dream house plan online as these home plans are far cheaper than going to a local architect especially that my husband and I were on a tight budget.

Newborn babies need vitamin K

We all needed vitamin K to make our blood clot properly so that we won’t bleed too easily and some newborn babies have too little vitamin K. Although this is rare, it can cause them to bleed dangerously into the brain. This is called haemorrhagic disease of new born or Vitamin K deficiency bleeding (VKDB). To reduce that risk, every newborn baby should be offered vitamin K, either by mouth or ejection. These options will all be explained to you by your baby’s doctor prior to giving the said vitamin K.

Know my PD / Pupillary distance recent issue

Recently saw this forum about opticians refusing to give a PD or pupillary distance measurement to people coming into their clinic because they say that these customers will just go to an online shop to purchase one and it's sad to know that this is all about money! You see if a customer walks into the clinic to ask for a PD test, some opticians would say no if a that person will not get a package deal, which is compose of $30 to $45 PD test, $50 to help select the right frame, $50 to verify RX, and $65 to fit it. Now I am just wondering, are customers coming into an optical clinic that would just want a PD check really are obliged to get a pair of their eyeglasses? Do we have the freedom to choose as a customer whether we want to purchase one or not?

Based on what I saw on this forum, most opticians are annoyed with these customers, as they all say that once a customer got their PD, they would all go to this certain online eyeglasses shop where they could get it a lot cheaper. I did have a research about this online shop and found that this is now the biggest online eyeglasses retailer and they do sell eyeglasses for as low as $8 that is why they are now the number 1 online eyeglasses store. Now if anyone wishes to get a pair of eyeglasses from this online shop, it was explained there that you need a pupillary distance measurement to ensure a proper eyeglass fitment that is why people would then go to an optician to get a PD measurement.

Anyway, since most of the opticians refuse to give and some charges more for a PD measurement, it’s sad to think that their best interest is not at heart. Now, I do understand that an optician too has to be paid for their services, but it does not mean that they would rip off anyone with their very high consultation fee for just a pupillary distance measurement! If they would only offer a reasonable price of PD test to everyone, it would be a wise marketing strategy of getting more customers as well as helping people in this recession time. Also my advice for people wanting a pupillary distance check is that you could do with some research online for a free eye test or a cheap eye test. Note that some giant supermarkets sometimes offer a free PD measurement check with their opticians without an obligation to purchase from their store and usually they do charge but for a lesser amount only.

The PD or Pupillary Distance, is the distance between the pupils of the eyes, center to center, in Millimeters.

Foods to avoid for a baby under 1 year old

I have here some lists of foods that you should avoid in giving to your baby especially when your baby is under 1 year old. The first batch is for babies under the age of 6 months old as these foods could cause allergic reaction or contain harmful bacteria.

* Under 6 months old:

• Eggs

• Fish and shellfish

• Soft and unpasteurised cheeses.

• Wheat based foods which contain gluten - like wheat flour, bread, breakfast cereal and rusks. Also avoid oats and other barley-based foods.

• Nuts and seeds including ground nuts - like peanut butter, and other nut spread.

* Under 1 year old:

• Salt – do not add salt to food for young babies as their kidneys cannot cope with it. Babies will get the right amount of salt they need from the infant formula milk or through breastfeeding if you are breastfeeding your baby.

• Sugar- Do not add sugar to food or drinks you give to your baby, it isn’t necessary. Sugar could encourage a sweet tooth and lead to tooth decay when the first teeth start to come through.

• Honey- should not be given to a baby under 1 year old. According to health professionals, honey can contain a type of bacteria which can produce toxins in the baby’s intestines and can cause serious illness. They said, after the age of 1 the bacteria are not able to grow in the babies intestines.

• Nuts- whole nuts should not be given to children under the age of 5 in case of choking and it could also lead to allergy problems.

Recently came across this website called My Event Hub or MEH social networking and I think this is very interesting! Wanted to know why? Based on what I saw on the website, this has a lot more to offer than the usual networking website. Ways of cutting down saturated fats

Saturated fats are not good for the human’s health as it could raise the level of cholesterol in the blood and could lead to developing heart disease. So, here are some simple things you can do to cut down saturated fats into your food. I got this from a food standard leaflet which I find very useful and think I should also share this with others through my blog.

• By simple choosing lower-fat dairy products – example: try 1% fat milk and look out for yoghurt and cheese that are lower in fat.
• Simple grating cheese instead of slicing – this can mean you eat less of it, which can help you reduce saturated fat intake.
• When shopping compare the labels of cheese to see which of the products contains less fat?
• Simple using leaner mince can reduce saturated fat intake or try using turkey mince which is even leaner.
• By eating chicken without the skin. When cooking chicken, go easy with creamy sauces, try a bit of lemon and some herbs instead.
• Using sunflower oil instead of butter.
• Trim the fat off the meat and try grilling meat instead of frying.
• By simply eating more balance meals. Try lots of fruits and vegetable and plenty of rice potatoes pasta and other starchy foods. These are low in saturated fats, so they make your meals healthier.
• Eat less pastry.
• Healthy snacks when on the go- try apple, and some dried fruits

Ladies hunter wellington boots

Just returned from a camping holiday and I was very impressed with my new hunter wellington boots. Feeling depress after childbirth

Like most mothers, I also feel a bit emotional and irrational after child birth and this is what they call baby blues. New mothers usually get this feeling during the first week after child birth, and you might as well be wondering why into a sudden you will be bursting into tears for no apparent reason. Well, worry not as these symptoms are normal and said to only last a few days. I have read in a book that the reason for this baby blues is probably due to the sudden hormone and chemical changes which take place in the body after childbirth. Some other symptom includes feeling irritable, touchy, feeling depressed or anxious but like I said this is something you should not worry as this will only be for a couple of days, once you get used to all the changes, everything gets better as it should be.
